Spider Solitaire Help

Spider Solitaire is a very challenging and popular solitaire card game. In the traditional four suit version, games are only won 10% or less of the time. For that reason two extra versions are offered - two suits and one suit which are considerably easier to win.

Layout

Spider Solitaire uses 104 cards. In the four suit version, there are two packs ie two sets of Ace to King in each suit. In the two suit version there are 4 sets of Ace to King in both Hearts and Spades. In the one suit version there are 8 sets of Ace to King in Spades only.
There are 10 tableau columns and initially 6 cards are dealt face down to the first 4 columns and 5 cards to the remaining 6 columns. The bottom card of each column is then exposed. The rest of the cards are kept in a stock for play when you are stuck.

Object

The object of the game is to build each suit in decending sequence from King to Ace within the tableau columns. When such a sequence has been formed, it is automatically removed to one of the 8 foundations. When all 104 cards have been played to the foundations as eight separate King to Ace sequences then the game is won.

Rules

A single card can only be moved to another pile if the card being moved is one less than the card it will be placed on. For example any 9 can be placed on any 10.

Groups of cards can only be moved if they are all in same suit and are in perfect descending order. For example you could move a 10, 9 and 8 of diamonds as a group onto any open Jack.

If a card that is face down in a column is open it will be turned over.

Any group or single card you might be able to move can be placed on an empty column.

You can deal 10 cards from the stock, one to each column if you cannot make any moves. However there must be at least one card in each column when you do this.

Input Tips

Clicking any exposed card that can be moved will automatically move it (and any in sequence below it), to another valid column if there is one. This is a shorthand alternative to save you dragging the cards but you may still choose to drag cards (especially when there is more than one valid move).
